National Health IT Week: Expanding the Value of Health IT

National Health IT Week (NHIT). Five days dedicated to the technologies, partnerships and innovations that contribute to the overall health for American citizens. It’s been a jammed packed first few days, starting with President Obama issuing this statement:

“During National Health IT Week, we recommit ourselves to improving the health of our citizenry using the breakthrough technologies of our time and reaching for the next frontier of innovation.”

Since then, there has been a slew of events, including virtual webinars, live chats and industry conferences—all centering around one major theme—value. Specifically, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) are focusing on the areas of precision medicine, telemedicine and interoperability—where personalized care, expanded access and reach and linked data can have a long-term, lasting impact on the quality of care. In addition, governing agencies, private sector companies and leading health officials are converging and conversing around topics like:

Strategies to Support Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act
Best Practices in Clinical Data Migration
Health IT Transformation; and
The State of Health IT and the Business of Interoperability

That is just scratching the surface on the latest initiatives and work being done by those in the HIT community. The evidence can be seen daily by taking a peek at HealthIT.GovCMS.GovHealthcare IT News, and #NHIT on Twitter. This week, dedicated to HIT, raises awareness, reaffirms the shared values, and makes headway towards driving forward the culture and vision of healthcare innovation.

And here at CNSI, we are excited to be a part of the conversation and to see what is out there to help advance the health of our communities—from innovation to impact. Join us on Twitter to engage in an open dialogue on the important topics and future trends in HIT.
